FAQs

How easy is it to hatch eggs?

Anyone is able to hatch eggs, as long as they have a good incubator and have researched on how to hatch eggs. You need to do plenty of research before your first hatch, YouTube is a great source of information, and make sure you have a plan of what you will do with the chicks after they hatch. For more details read our guide here.

Can you guarantee how many eggs will hatch?

We offer no guarantee on how many eggs will hatch as once they leave us we have no control over their conditions. A good hatch rate for shipped eggs is 60%. For eggs collected from us we would expect near 80% fertility rate at a minimum.

Can you ensure how many hens will hatch?

Sadly this is out of our hands. We would all love to be able to select how many hens and how many roosters will hatch, but this is just down to chance. This is something you need to plan for.

Will my eggs be sent out the next day after ordering?

We aim to send out orders the following day, however it does depend on the amount of orders we get. We try not to over sell how many eggs we have, but knowing how many eggs we'll get a day is difficult as not all hens will lay. All orders will be sent with 4 working days (Mon-Thurs) of ordering.

If I do not need my eggs right away can I delay them being sent out?

Yes this is possible, please just email us as soon as you have ordered and let us know which day you need them for. Please remember we only ship out on a Monday to Thursday.

What should I do once I receive my hatching eggs?

Open the box and carefully remove enough wood shavings to reveal the eggs. Carefully take out each egg and leave them in a safe, cool room, with the more pointed end pointing down. We suggest leaving the eggs out for 24 hours before putting them in your incubator. Do not wash your eggs as this removes the protective "Bloom" that keeps your egg free of bacteria. Even if the eggs have small amounts of dirt on this won't affect the hatch rate.
